ToouchBB necessita che gli indichiate forum per forum la cartella in cui il file .php è stato collocato ed ovviamente username e password del vostro utente sul forum (purtroppo ciò avviene in maniera non criptata “http”s come indicato da TouchBB stessa con un messaggio di alert). Tutto ciò viene salvato nel quinto dei 5 tab in basso (Account).
Adesso siamo pronti (pannello Home) per visualizzare ad esempio i topic attivi, senza risposta, quelli scritti da noi, quali utenti sono collegati al forum in quel momento e tutta la lista degli iscritti.
Dal tab Forum possiamo navigare e consultare tutte le sezioni dei forum con l’iPhone (con tanto di resizing automatico delle immagini) e abbiamo anche la possibilità di aprire nuovi topic impostandone il soggetto.
Nel terzo tab (PMs) possiamo gestire i messaggi privati: inbox, salvati, outbox e inviati, nonché ovviamente possiamo inviare un nuovo PM ad altri utenti del forum.
Il pannello Search dice tutto: serve per poter effettuare delle ricerche all’intero di tutto il forum con l’iPhone.
Nel pannello Account, pulsante Edit/Add, come anticipato, possiamo aggiungere tutti i forum che vogliamo, ma anche creare un forum ex-novo che viene ospitato sullo spazio web del sito messageforums.net o ancora selezionarne uno tra quelli già inseriti nella già molto ampia directory di messageforums.net (Browse directory), in cui i forum sono suddivisi per macrocategorie.
Alcuni difetti o bugs riscontrati nell’uso dell’attuale versione di TouchBB (e relativo file php associato sul server) sono:
- impossibilità di utilizzare col classico click le emoticons messe a disposizione dal forum. In realtà basta scrivere a mano le più note faccine (ad esempio :), ;), :O, ecc.), ma ciò presuppone che le ricordiamo a mente.
- impossibilità di caricare immagini
- alcuni menù non funzionano: per questo aspetto confidiamo nei bug fixes che verranno. Anche la funzione Search ogni tanto si inceppa.
La versione lite di TouchBB è gratuita ma permette la gestione di soli 2 account forum e aggiunge la firma “Posted with TouchBB” su ogni post: decisamente un handicap sopportabile in ogni caso. Ma se siete come me assidui frequentatori come me di molti forum sul web (per lo più costruiti come detto con phpBB o vBulletin), la versione completa di TouchBB per iPhone vale sicuramente il costo di un caffè.

e perché non dovrebbero volere? è gratis, ci vogliono 3 secondi, è indolore (no virus, trojan) e potenzialmente contribuisce ad incrementare il traffico. Se poi è un forum dedicato al mondo mac, una ragione in più… ci saranno presumibilmente vari utenti che avranno l’iPhone….

Devo creare dei moduli per dialogare con il server, mettendo quest’ultimi sul server dove risiede il forum ?

non so risponderti con precisione, ma senza l’accesso al server la vedo dura. Questa app per esempio necessita che uno script sia caricato sul server che ha in host il forum :)
